Yep, I am working 15 years at CTG now.
To celebrate this, I received an invitation, along with other colleagues who celebrated 5, 10, 15 or 20 years at CTG, to dine, with partner, in a restaurant with fame.
This time, restaurant Magis in Tongeren was chosen. This restaurant scored no less than 17/20 in the Gault Millau last test. Chef Dimitry Lysens opened the restaurant in 2005 on the Grote Markt in Tongeren but moved 4 years later to the nearby historic 14th-century Biessenhuys.
And I understand perfectly why; it is a beautiful location! We were lucky that the weather was sunny and warm so we could enjoy our diner in the “Zen” garden.
We were really spoiled! Delicious food, nice atmosphere and very pleasant company.
The various dishes were very surprising. The way everything was nicely presented and the varied tastes and textures that Chef Dimitry played with, was in perfect harmony.
Below the menu (of course all with matching wines and water :-) ) and I also attached some pictures of what was presented to us:
Appetizers: water lily with crab, watermelon and feta cheese, slumber peas with wasabi cream, asparagus soup with mussels, cannelloni of roasted leeks with egg yolk, lacquered pork belly with elderflower
Starter: monkfish with tomato and ricotta, tortellini with foie gras and green asparagus
Main course: veal rib-eye with veal thymus, chard and peas
Dessert: strawberry with rhubarb, sorrel and lemon, honey with orange, pollen and meringue
It was a splendid evening. When I see the pictures now, I still remember how much fun we had in the garden of Magis. Put some colleagues of CTG together and you're guaranteed to have a pleasant evening! That was indeed what I had! Next to come: 20 years at CTG and I am already wondering where and with whom I will be celebrating this. Thank you CTG for the nice dinner with good company!
